| Florida Governor Charlie Crist greets Rabbi Shmuli Novack at the Governors Mansion in Tallahassee |
Dear Friends,
Tonight it was my privilege and honor to welcome several leaders of Florida’s Jewish community to the People’s House for a dedication of a new Torah scroll.
It is appropriate that the dedication and completion ceremony of a new Torah scroll took place within the “People’s House.” The ethical values set forth throughout the Torah serve as a guide for all of us, providing instruction on how to live our lives – regardless of our personal religious beliefs.
As I have become more familiar with the great work of the Chabad Lubavitch movement throughout our state, I have come to greatly appreciate the spiritual benefits bestowed upon all Floridians. The Torah is the foundation of belief, not only for Jewish Floridians, but for millions of our fellow Floridians who observe different faiths.
By sharing this celebration with all Floridians, the Jewish community is extending its good will and friendship to all throughout our Great State.
In order to advance the well-being of our state, I look forward to working with the Jewish community and Floridians of all religious beliefs. Together, we can continue to build a better Florida.
